| Welcome to my web site!
As many of you know, my son, Jason, was diagnosed at age 11 with Crohn’s disease in 1999. Since that diagnosis, Jason has undergone numerous hospitalizations, had 2 surgeries, gone without food for over 2 straight months, taken countless medications, had reactions to medications and nearly died twice from this disease. Last year, the staff at Boston Children’s Hospital helped stabilized Jason’s Crohn’s disease. Unfortunately, this May, Jason had more complications and had to have emergency surgery.
As a mother, you can only image, it has been agonizing to watch Jason suffer through this disease. The doctors tell us that there is no cure and they do not know what causes this disease. They can only control it with medications and surgery. We have tried acupuncture, diet, holistic approaches and prayer. All of these approaches have helped in some way, but none has lead to a cure.
That is why I have chosen to enter the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon on July 20, 2008 to raise money to find a cure for Crohn’s disease. Team Challenge is the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s new endurance training program. I will train for 16 weeks to run/walk 13.1 miles in this half marathon.
Please join me by sponsoring me in this marathon to raise funds to find a cure for ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. It is my goal to raise $4000 for the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon. Many of you work for corporations that have matching gift programs. There are links on my site for you to download the forms for matching contributions.
Currently, I can slowly jog a mile, but in July I am determined to cross the finish line after 13.1 miles. If I can summon the courage to accomplish this task to find a cure for Crohn’s disease, then I ask you to help me so that Jason and millions like him can have hope for a cure.
Thank you for your support!!!
