|It's cookie time!
If you've been reading Running To Sonoma, you know that I'll be out of my running shoes for a few days. Perfect excuse to bake! And you are the lucky recipients!
For every $25 donated, I'll send you one dozen cookies. Chocolate chip, chocolate peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, who knows what I'll make next? How tasty is that?! You'll be supporting the CCFA (and me), feeling good about that, AND get a sweet treat to go with it. What could be better? (A cure for Crohn's, but they're working on it!)
Want some cookies, but don't want to donate online? Send an email to khacker (at) gmail (dot) com, and we'll work something out!
Welcome friends, family, and colleagues,
As some of you may know, I completed my first half marathon, the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country half marathon, in July of last year. This year, I am going back to do it again, this time to honor a good friend who is fighting Crohn's disease. (Hi TK!)
TK is currently recovering from her second surgery for Crohn's, and has had some complications. Since I can't visit often or bring her reading material or other distractionary items due to distance (she's in San Francisco, and I am in Milwaukee), I can run and raise funds in her honor.
I've joined Team Challenge to do just that with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, and am looking forward to training with others on my team to meet my goal of crossing the finish line with a better time than my 2007 finish.
As Team Challenge will help me meet that goal, I ask that you help me meet my fundraising goal of $5,000. Any contribution you can make is welcome! A minimum of 83 cents per dollar raised by CCFA goes directly to research and patient support, and your contribution is 100% tax deductible.
Please contact me if you would prefer to make a donation offline, and visit my blog, Running To Sonoma to read about my training progress and other related things.
Of course, your good wishes and positive vibes to sustain me in my training and your praise as I cross the finish line will also be graciously accepted!
Here is a great picture of TK and I at my wedding in September '07! Shortly after that is when she became ill from Crohn's. I'm very much looking forward to seeing her in July at the finish line!
