Back in May of 2007 Eric and I adopted Shelly, our "Golden LaBeagle" from the Washington Animal Rescue. Since our adoption we've not only fallen in love with our Shelly but with the one-of-a-kind shelter that we got her from. I (TOS) love to evangelize causes, but the WARL has a special place in my heart.

WARL challenges all notions of how animals should be treated. Rather than relegating them to a nuisance to be dealt with, they offer the care and compassion all creatures deserve.

Listen, I'm not a crazy animal nut that gets parodied on TV. Shelly has really made an incredible impression on my life (and Eric's too) and she wouldn't have been around if not for the WARL.

She lived at their shelter for more than 9 months. At most animal shelters she would have been caged (yup, no cages at the WARL) and given a minimal amount of time to either be adopted or be "humanely" euthanized.

I understand that sometimes that is necessary but the WARL goes to extremes to prevent that.

Bottom line, I owe the WARL for bringing me one of my most cherished friends.
