| In the fall of 2002, Tyler Hamilton conceived of MS Global to combat the devastating effects of MS. With over 2 million people diagnosed with MS worldwide, it is clear that a global effort is required to cure it. Tyler’s goal is to unite cyclists from around the world in an effort to raise funds for international MS research and to increase public awareness about the disease.
Over the course of the last 3 years, cyclists from 11 countries have gathered for a week every fall to participate in THF's MS Global. MS Global not only demonstrates the power of individuals but the power of the bike to help unite communities.
MS Global is a physical challenge mirroring the struggles of individuals with MS. Some days an individual with MS wakes up free from pain, while on other days getting out of bed is as difficult as climbing the Alpe d'Huez.
In a few hours I will board a plane to join 50 other cyclists in a collective effort to raise funds for the MS International Federation, an umbrella organization that oversees 41 chapters of MS Societies across the world. We will be riding to honor people diagnosed with MS from Ethiopia, Slovakia, Chile, Peru, and the U.S. to name few. Amazingly, seven of the cyclists also have MS and they will be the ones helping me up the Alps of Italy, France, and Switzerland.
So in many ways I will be going around the world in 7 days and I ask you to join me in this journey. Make a contribution – it will make a difference. |
