A Message from Christina McNair of Team McNair and Alain Pinel Realtors...
On May 9th, Team McNair and Alain Pinel Realtors are going to run/walk/roll in the Marin Human Race in support of the Lighthouse for the Blind, Elva Iacono Vergari Arts and Craft Center in San Francisco.
Why am I spear-heading this?
As some of you know, my mother passed away one year ago April 17, 2008. She was completely deaf and blind for the majority of her life. In spite of her handicaps, she was an amazing blind artist. Oil painting, water colors, ceramics, and sculpting. Her wonderful artwork pieces were featured at national competitions and on display at SF City Hall and the SF Waterfront Ferry building. The Lighthouse for the Blind organization contributed to her contagious passion for loving life and encouraged her to express her vision through the creation of art. When funding was tight at the Lighthouse for the Blind and programs were being cut, my mom stepped up to the plate and made a generous annual donation to the SF Lighthouse to keep the Art and Craft program going through their tough financial times. By her doing so, this allowed her and other blind artists to continue on with their creative abilities, friendships and love of life. Several years ago, the Lighthouse for the Blind reciprocated her generosity by naming in her honor - the Lighthouse for the Blind Elva Iacono Vergari Art and Craft Center as well as the national Insights Art Exhibition top artist awards.
The Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired provide solutions for those living with vision loss. Drawing on over 100 years of service to the blind and visually impaired community, the Lighthouse offers crucial services for those with vision loss. Their goal is to help each one of their clients achieve independence in their lives. Anyone who knew my mom, witnessed first hand, the Lighthouse mission statement proven true.
My mom is no longer here to keep this Art and Craft program going. Financial times are even tougher than they were before. So I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation? Every little bit helps - $15 or $500 will be equally appreciated. Feel free to pass on this message along to anyone else you think might want to support me, Team McNair and Alain Pinel Realtors in this fundraising event.
