| I chose to run for Manos de Cristo this year (and run like I’ve never run before), and my wife Allison chose to get involved by offering fundraising workout classes because we want to help the needy in our city, our neighbors, who are trying to make a better life for themselves and their families. Manos is doing just that, helping people here in Austin help themselves and improve their lives.
I am a veteran runner with 16 marathons as well as a full Iron-Man-distance triathlon under my belt, and I know time-commitment involved in preparing for a race like this one. I enjoy the challenge and find personal satisfaction in marathon training and racing. This year however, I wanted to run for something "bigger than myself," and training with fundraising for Manos de Cristo in mind has been quite different. With this new external focus, I feel stronger than ever, I have logged more miles per week than ever before in my "peak" training, and will run on February 14th with the possibility of setting a new personal record.
Allison is supporting the Manos Team by offering runners for Manos free Backyard Fitness classes to support their training. She is also supporting my fundraising efforts by giving 100% of the proceeds from two of her workout classes each week during the months of January and February directly to Manos de Cristo.
Please join us and support Manos and Austin's working poor and under-served with a donation. |
