Cheer for Our Runners on Race Day
Join Manos at our water stop for the race on Sunday, February 14, 2010 to cheer on our runners, meet new people, and enjoy the excitement when 14,000+ runners race through Austin. Volunteers will help us prepare our water-stop, hydrate marathoners, get loud, and have a blast in their free volunteer t-shirt! It's an early morning of fun, and we'd love to have you, your family, and friends enjoy an energetic morning celebrating our runners and Manos. If want to join us you can sign-up online, just email Judy Cárdenas at outreach@manosdecristo.org for the registration website and password. Registration for volunteers ends February 1, so sign up soon!
About Manos
Manos de Cristo was formed over 20 years ago to provide dental care and other services to the needy in East Austin. Over the years, Manos has grown by leaps and bounds and is now reaching 15,000 people across Central Texas in a year. Our mission is to empower low-income individuals with a loving hand of assistance, welcoming all regardless of age, gender, race, or religious preference. Inspired by the Christian ideals of service and compassion, Manos promotes dignity and self-reliance by providing essential oral care, furthering educational development, and meeting basic needs with food and clothing.
Manos remains the low-cost provider of comprehensive oral healthcare for people without dental insurance, who would otherwise have inadequate treatment options in traditional emergency clinics and hospitals. We also provide ESL, computer, citizenship, & financial literacy classes for adults seeking to improve their skills and employability, emergency food & clothing for families in need, and, at the start of each new school year, new clothing, backpacks, & school supplies for children living in poverty. |
