Team Orlando's Honoree: Denise Bisceglie
Help me acheive the biggest CHALLENGE of MY LIFETIME!
Welcome to my fundraising page. As many of you know Crohns Disease is in my family and my health has been a challange for me since 1995. I was 22 when I had my first surgery. They removed a portion of my large intestine due to a severe intestinal blockage. Since that fateful day in 1999 I have had 4 more major abdomenal surgeries and now live with a permanent ileostomy. In all, my large intestine, ileum, rectum, appendix and gall bladder have been removed. Since being diagnosed I have always struggled with my weight being over 100 lbs. For the past 4 years I've had a PICC line in my arm because I need to supplement IV nutrition every night directly into my vein. My body can no longer absorb the nutrition from my oral intake. Crohns Disease stole 15 years of my life. Over those years I've had to give up alot. Relationships, career, life experiences, travel, my independence, and possibly even having my own children all to being sick. Since getting my ileostomy I am at my healthiest ever! This is why I have challenged myself to walk a half marathon in Las Vegas on Dec. 5, 2010. This will be my biggest challenge to date. I am Team Orlando's Honoree for the 2010 race. I have shared my story with others and hopefully have inspired many more. So, from the bottom of my heart help me help the CCFA raise money for digestive disease research so we can end Crohns and Colitis. I don't want another young woman like myself to experience what I have. Please sponsor and support me on the journey to my first ever half marathon! Thank you and God Bless! Denise
