Thanks for finding my fund-raising page
I have recently decided to take on a new challenge that will require much dedication, determination, and perseverance and I'm counting on all of you to help me reach my goal! I've decided to join Team Challenge, which is an endurance sports training program geared to help participants (ME!) run or walk a 1/2 marathon! More importantly, I will be raising $4000 to find a cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis at the same time.
On December 5, 2010 I will be running 13.1 miles in Las Vegas in honor of my darling niece Kate. As many of you know, Kate, now 10, was diagnosed with Crohn's dissease at the age of four. More recently she was also diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Known together as inflammatory bowl disease (IBD), Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable illnesses that attack the digestive system. It frustrates me that while Kate has had the best medical care available, there simply is no easy way to go about treating Crohn's disease long term. Yet Kate maintains a positive attitude. She is an avid reader (like her Aunt Cherie!) and last year she started taking ballet. Kate is my inspiration and my reason for my commitment to this challenge.
Please help me reach my goal! Since it's inception, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) has become the largest organization dedicated to curing IBD and has funded more than 1,100 grants for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis research. The foundation invests dollars wisely, funding the highest-quality IBD research anywhere in the world. The funds raised through the Team Challenge program directly benefit the CCFA to support its mission to find a cure and improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. More than 80 cents of every dollar donated to the Foundation goes to mission-critical programs!
I hope my effort makes a difference in fighting a disease that affects not only Kate, but so many others. But I can't do this alone. Please consider supporting me in this effort by making a tax deductible donation to CCFA. Would you consider donating $10 dollars for every mile I run? How about $5? Every dollar counts and I will also accept Advil, foot/leg massages and a personal cheering section for my training program!
My personal fundraising deadline is October 31st. Help me reach my goal by then!
With gratitude and appreciation,
Cher (and Kate)
