| Hi Everyone,
I am raising money for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America by running a half-marathon of 13.1 miles this December in Las Vegas.

Yeah, I’m actually training for it! My goal is to raise a billion zillion dollars, so while I might not reach that exact number, I want to make sure I can contribute as much as possible to the cause. I’m raising money for three reasons.
1) I know what it’s like to have Ulcerative Colitis (UC). I’ve had it for 8 years, and it’s not fun. I’ll do whatever I can to make sure we find a proper cure so no one else has to deal with it.
2) Earlier this year I had surgery to get my large intestine removed. This drastic step “cured” me of my UC, but I would hope that with proper funding and research, we can find a cure that doesn’t resort to major surgery. Let’s try to keep our organs intact!
3) People diagnosed with Crohn’s do not have the luxury of getting surgery as a possible cure, since the entire GI tract is affected. While I have the opportunity to get my quality of life back, Crohn’s patients have a much harder time. I’m mostly raising money for them.
Any help is appreciated. It’s a great cause, and one I have a personal investment in.
More Info:
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (UC) in 2001 and have tried every alternative to surgery, but after 8 years of immune suppressants it was time to get “cured”. This past May and July I got a pretty drastic surgery to remove my large intestine, thus curing me of UC. I am currently the proud owner of a J-Pouch, which takes the place of the large intestine. I am part of a J-Pouch community and logged the entire journey if you’re interested:

While I’m recovering and slowly getting my body back to where it was pre-surgery, I’m using this opportunity to raise money for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.Let's find a cure already! |
