Kal Lake 10K

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s in 1995. At the time I weighed 195 pounds, had competed at an international level in rowing and never thought once about not being able to participate in any event I chose. In the summers I worked on a wildfire suppression crew. I had been accepted into medical school. The future looked bright and full of promise. Within the span of 3 months I experienced a dramatic loss of health and vitality. I had dropped almost 40 pounds and had trouble walking up a flight of stairs or walking around the block. Now, 14 years later, with much love and support from my wife Melissa, (and short several feet of intestine), I‘ve found a balance that let’s me participate in life again. I’m running because at one time I couldn't. By racing I hope and pray that the funds raised will lead to a cure. It’s my sincere hope that one day no one will have to endure the debilitating physical and emotional pain that happens as you watch life pass you by and your hopes fade away. Please join me in helping to make a cure for Crohn’s and colitis a reality.
