Running for a Cure for Crohn's & Colitis
My sister Evelyn, my daughter Zoe, & myself
I am so excited to be a part of Team Challenge! I am training to run the Rock 'n Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon on December 6, 2009 to benefit the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. I haven't done any serious running since I was in the Marines more than 10 years ago, but I knew I had to get back out there for such a worthy cause.

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis affect an estimated one million Americans including one who is very special to me; my sister. Evelyn was diagnosed with Crohn's, an incurable, autoimmune, inflammatory bowel disease five years ago and struggles every day with her symptoms. She takes daily medications and self administered injections and drives to a hospital in another city for monthly intravenous treatments which help her function and provide some relief. She has good days and bad days, but never great days. On her worst days she can barely get out of bed or walk to the bathroom to vomit. Sometimes she can't brush her own hair because of the arthritis brought on by her disease. Evelyn is a strong and optimistic young woman, but this disease has taken a tremendous toll on her both physically and emotionally.

The mission of CCFA is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. Your donation will help sponsor clinical research, educational programs and supportive services for patients, their families, health care professionals and communities.

A gift of $250 sends a child with Crohn's or ulcerative colitis to Camp Oasis for one day or can buy 25 test tubes for a lab! Please help me support CCFA and share this website with everyone you know!

Thank you in advance for your support and generous contributions!
