OHSU ADULT CENTER FOR HEMATOLOGIC MALIGNANCIES & DOERNBECHER CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL LEUKEMIA/LYMPHOMA PROGRAM
Where Healing, Teaching and Discovery Come Together
Welcome to the OHSU Center For Hematologic Malignancies Light The Night Walk homepage. The Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's nationwide walk to cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
The faculty for the Center for Hematologic Malignancies, The OHSU Cancer Care Center and Doernbecher Children's Hospital Leukemia/Lymphoma Program are participating in the walk to honor all individuals with blood cancers. The patients and families battling these cancers are real heroes. We need your help to fund research that determines the molecular basis of these diseases, which can lead to improvements in patients' lives. We also need your help to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's goal of providing services that offer advice, counsel and hope to our patients.
In our support of patients with blood-based cancers, over the past year, there have been over 7,000 outpatient visits to the adult CHM Team, over 600 outpatient visits to the OHSU Cancer Care Center and over 1,500 outpatient visits to the Doernbecher Children's Hospital Leukemia/Lymphoma Program.
Together we have developed active basic and clinical research programs studying new treatment options for children, adolescents and adults with chronic leukemias, acute leukemias, lymphoma, myelodysplasia and myeloma.
Active research programs include extension of the world-renowned molecular targeted therapy from Dr. Druker, the development of cancer vaccines for patients with lymphoma and leukemia and studies to define the molecular basis for these cancers. Additional research is targeted toward the reduction of the treatment related complications such as infections and graft vs host disease.
Thank you for your support and we hope that you are able to join our team. If you are not able to join us for the walk please consider making a donation today!
