In recognition for reaching our fundraising goal of $100,000, a pediatric research grant bestowed by The Society will be denoted in honor of the team and the children fighting blood cancers.

Did you know:

  • Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer?
  • Every nine minutes, someone loses the fight?
  • Leukemia is the leading cause of disease-related death among children under age 15?
  • Approximately 3,000 children die from a blood cancer every year?
There is so much we still need to learn. Research is the key. And research takes money.

Friends of Heroes hopes to raise $180,000 dollars in 2008 so that other beautiful children and families don’t have to lose someone they love to cancer. Please help us support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to work towards eradicating this horrible disease! But more research is critically needed:

  • Every five minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every ten minutes, someone dies.
  • Leukemia causes more deaths among children than any other cancer
  • More than 20,000 Americans died from lymphoma in 2006
  • The survival rate for myeloma is just 33 per cent
