Welcome to the Sammy Nichols Crew Light The Night Walk team home page! This is the second year our family has been raising awareness and funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Last year we raised over $13,000 (for Team in Training) and this year we are setting our goals even higher!

I am proudly walking in honor of my daughter Sammy the bravest young lady I know, and all the other children who are battling blood cancers. Especially the one's who have lost their battle such as Amanda Ellis, Ryan Smedley, and Allie Scott. These people are the real heroes and we need your support to help reach a cure and give hope for patients and their families. Although research is responsible for increasing survival rates for these diseases, the battle is far from over.

Did you know that: Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every nine minutes, someone dies. Leukemia is the leading cause of disease-related death among children under age 15. Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers. The myeloma survival rate is only 30 percent.

Our daughter Sammy was diagnosed with acute lymphobalstic leukemia March 8th 2004. She was just 2 & 1/2 years old. Over the past two years she has endured countless spinal taps, bone marrow biopsies, finger sticks, chemotherapy, and to many hospital visits to count. Sammy is now experiencing a life that is a little bit closer to normal. She has fewer doctor visits, has a full head of hair again, and is able to run, and play with the best of them. She is fighting this battle and winning but this wouldn't be the case if there wasn't groups like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Since Sammy being diagnosed we have tried to be positive, and make a difference in honor of her. Our family raised over $13,000 for LLS last year and walked a 26.2 mile marathon. We will continue to raise funds, and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This year we have partnered with FOA (Friends of Allie) a wonderful group we have come to know during our journey with cancer. We together can raise tons of awareness and funds for children battleing blood cancers.

I am very committed to this cause and determined to see it through to the finish line but I need your help. We want to raise at least $10,000 in honor of Sammy and all the children battling cancers. I know you are asked to give to numerous charities, but I am urging you to contribute to this charity, this year.
