WALK FOR TAMAR
Tamar Renee Bolt 1975-2004
In 2003, our daughter Tamar was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, her first reaction was shock and disbelief. Once the shock wore off she decided to turn her condition into something that would change her life and the lives of others for the better.
Tamar's life exemplified strength, courage and compassion, whose battles against non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma was fought like a soldier, warrior and champion. Tamar brought this disease to the forefront of her family and friends minds. She never lost her faith, grace or beauty.
Tamar passed away on November 5, 2004, she would often ask the question "Who will walk for us?" meaning who fights for the people with blood cancers. Tamar was unable to walk in the Light The Night Walk, so we formed team Walk for Tamar and on October 5, 2005, we walked for Tamar in the Light The Night Walk to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Please join us this year for our third annual Walk for Tamar on Thursday October 4, 2007 across the Brooklyn Bridge. I'm asking you to help by making a contribution. Our team goal is to raise $2,000, and I need your help!
The Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's nationwide evening walk to raise awareness and funds to cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
The Tamar Renee Bolt Memorial Fund Inc., is participating in the Walk in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes and we need your support to help accelerate cures and hope for patients and their families. Although research is responsible for increasing survival rates for these diseases, the battle is far from over. Did you know that:
- Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every nine minutes, someone dies.
- Leukemia is the leading cause of disease-related death among children under age 15.
- Lymphomas are the most common blood cancers.
- The myeloma survival rate is only 30 percent..
Please make a donation to support my participation in the Light The Night Walk. By doing so, we’ll both be helping save lives. I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support! If you'd like to learn more about the Tamar Renee Bolt Memorial Fund Inc. please visit http://www.tamarbolt.org
