Relentless for a Cure
I'm JD Howard from WALK 97.5. Welcome to my story. It began in November of 2004 when a nagging cold turned into pneumonia which turned into pulmonary distress, which lead to a diagnosis of Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. That was the bad news. The good news is that at the end of March I completed my chemotherapy and, as of May 3, 2005, I am in remission.
Having non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma has been a transforming experience for me. I have done a lot of praying and bargaining with GOD. You know that kind prayer and what it sounds like….Dear GOD, if you just get me through this I promise to (be a better person, go to my house of worship more often, volunteer etc). Well that kind of bargaining is what brought me to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Light The Night. I promised that if I made it through this, I would do whatever I could, with all of the tools available to me, to help others in my situation.
I am very fortunate to work for WALK 97.5 and a very special group of people. My heart felt thanks to Rob Miller / Program Director; Bill Terry / Asst. Program & Promotions Director; and Linda Healy / Community Outreach Director. They have been a tremendous support to me through this ordeal and continue to assist me in every way. That’s why WALK 97.5 has signed on to be a media sponsor for the Light The Night Walk and allowed me to use their airways to become the Long Island Voice of Light The Night.
Please support our efforts and make a donation to my Light The Night Team today! Come join me for the walk too!! Help me fulfill my bargain to aid the 712,000 individuals in the United States living with blood cancers.
Thank you for your support and listen for me weekends on WALK 97.5!
