Your support means a lot…to me and to thousands of others.
Thank you for visiting my "Light the Night" donation page. The Light The Night
Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's nationwide walk to raise awareness and
funds to cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of
patients and their families. Our local walk takes place on October 11th at the
downtown YMCA parking lot in Grand Rapids.
Many of you know that
last year our 22 year old daughter Michelle died due to
complications from acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) thirty-eight days after
being diagnosis. Her life was tragically ripped away from this awful disease.
Currently the standard treatment for ALL is 3 years of intensive chemotherapy
(some that cause harmful side effects), and as we experienced not always
successful. With your help, more research can be done to find new, less
debilitating treatments for the patients and with much higher success rates.
When Michelle
first received her diagnosis all we knew about Leukemia was it was a blood
disease. Now, with the materials we received from the Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society we are so much more educated on the disease and current research that is
being done. This disease has drastically changed our family and our once perfect
life.
Michelle’s
first wish was to be cured then she wanted to give back to others suffering from
this disease…she spoke of volunteering and helping with this organization when
she got better. …it’s just like Michelle always thinking of others first. Since
she know longer can we have now vowed to keep her wishes and make it our passion
to raise awareness about Leukemia by doing our part to help fund research and
find a cure.
Michelledidn’t deserve to
die…nor does anyone else.
We participate in the walk in honor of all individuals who are currently battling or who have lost their lives to blood cancers. This year we are not only walking in memory of our daughter Michelle who lost her fight , but also in honor of Alice Findley (sister-n-law) and Uncle Jimmy Mortimore who both suffered recent relapses and are currently undergoing chemotherapy for lymphoma.
Please take a few moments to view the short video I have made
showing the faces of blood cancers…and if you would like to know more about
Michelle please visit her
memorial website and sign her guestbook and let us know you stopped by. Also
please keep Alice Findley and Jimmy Mortimore in your prayers. Pray that their treatment goes well and that they are both back into remission real soon.
Please make a donation to support my participation in the Light
The Night Walk and help save lives.
Be sure to check my Web site frequently to see my progress, and
thanks for your support!
God Bless,
Suzanne Lunn
