Your support means a lot...to me and to thousands of others.
Thanks for visiting my Light The Night homepage.
My sister, Allyson, was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in March 2006. She began therapy immediately and by August she was back to raising her 2 boys, working, and going to school for her master's degree. Last year, as a team captain for the walk she helped raise $3,700. Please help us keep up this giving spirit and here's why...
Just 4 years ago, when I was in medical school, we learned that the overall 5 year survival rate for the type of cancer Allyson had was only 50%. Because of research and the discovery of new, less toxic drugs the survival rate is now >80%. That's an amazing improvement, but there is still a long way to go. By donating to this noble cause, you can take credit for saving the life of thousands of people in the future.
The Society funds lifesaving cancer research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and many other types of cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants that have prolonged and enhanced the lives of patients. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue have already begun to provide drugs and procedures that are improving quality of life.
- Every five minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every ten minutes, someone dies.
- Leukemia causes more deaths among children than any other cancer
- More than 20,000 Americans died from lymphoma in 2006
Please make a donation to support my Light The Night Walk and help save lives. Any amount is appreciated! Be sure to check my Web site frequently to see my progress, and again, thanks for your support! And don't forget, as my sister the accountant would say "All donations are tax deductible!"
