| A small and blurry picture of me and Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to complete the Boston Marathon |

| In 2007 I ran the Boston Marathon by winning a number from one of my running clubs, the Rochester Runners. I had so much fun that I wanted to run the marathon again! However, this time around, I wanted to run for a worthwhile cause and put all of my hard work to good use. My very good friend and President of the Rochester Runners, Don Yeaton, has run for the American Liver Foundation for over ten years. I accompanied him to the Liver Foundation pre-marathon pasta dinner in 2007 and was so inspired by the enthusiasm of the fundraisers. Even more so, I was inspired by the stories of the individuals with liver disease. When I learned recently that the mother of one of my favorite students suffers from liver disease, I was propelled to run for the American Liver Foundation. In fact, I am officially running for Marlene Veldwisch through the Patient Match program ("Go Marlene!"). Having a face to put to the cause makes me want to raise even more money for this wonderful organization. I can't wait to run the marathon again and raise money for so many people in need! Any contribution you can donate to the Liver Foundation, no matter how small, to support my efforts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
