| Welcome to Energy2Cure's online donation page. Your donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will support continued advances in blood cancer research as well as education and patient assistance programs. Research funded by The Leukemia Society has led to key advances in understanding blood cancers and has produced new treatments to enhance and prolong lives. Blood cancer research is the gateway to curing all cancers. Over the years, innovations in cancer treatments have included radiation, chemotherapy, stem cell transplantation, and new targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal ones. Additionally, vaccine therapy developed from blood cancer research is the most promising new therapy on the horizon. Gleevac, a drug therapy initially used to treat blood cancer, is now used across more than six cancer disciplines, including brain and esophageal cancers.
More than 823,000 Americans are battling blood cancers today. These people are the real heroes and we need your support to help accelerate cures and provide hope and support for patients and their families. Every five minutes, someone in this country is diagnosed with blood cancer; every ten minutes, someone dies; leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young people under age 20; lymphomas are the most common blood cancers; and the myeloma survival rate is only 34 percent.
