Half Marathon Training Program

go big or go home.
My name is Kerin Rose Weinberg and I have Ulcerative Colitis.

The last time i ran a half marathon was in ‘98; in ‘99 I was diagnosed. I’ve been in remission since March ’08 and waking up every day in good health is a gift. Life is finally something I can apply clichés to by living to the fullest because I only live once. And this June I’ve decided to run a half marathon in Hawaii for charity.

So. Why am I doing this? Because it’s crazy and I can. Because 18 months ago I was too sick to climb a set of stairs. Because most days I would have hemorrhage attacks traveling on the subway, forget about a plane. Because remission, like everything in life, is temporary and who knows how long I’ll have the chance to do this. Because life is challenging. And I can finally challenge myself to do something more with my life than just wake up and get through the day. Because for a long time I was too sick to do anything, and I can finally push myself to do something grand and obnoxious and exhausting for myself, but most importantly for others who can't.

My battle with chronic illness is on pause, and my training has begun. Help me fight the good fight and win the war by donating to this amazing charity and helping me do my part on this beautiful journey. Anything (even if it is $5) you can contribute to my efforts is so unbelievably appreciated, and will gladly be repaid in hugs. I love you.
