The first-ever Stamford KIC IT Triathlon took to the beach and the streets shortly after sunrise on Sunday, June 29. More than 430 athletes completed a demanding course throughout the city streets and back hills of Stamford. Overwhelmingly, the athletes reported that the event was a true delight – well organized, interesting, challenging and full of helpful, dedicated volunteers. It was a stunning beginning to what will be a signature event for Kids in Crisis for years to come.

Individual and corporate support of the Triathlon helped us to raise more than $170,000, monies that will enable Kids in Crisis to continue to protect children of all ages. These monies will help us fund the unique therapeutic, medical, educational and residential programs provided by Kids in Crisis to children and their families – some 81,000 since 1978.

For 30 years, Kids in Crisis has served as the only agency and emergency shelter in Connecticut providing free, round-the-clock comprehensive crisis care for children and families. Children come to Kids in Crisis because of severe issues of all kinds, including domestic violence, divorce, parental substance abuse, neglect and more. At Kids in Crisis, we know that no family is immune to crisis and, too often, children are the victims.

With your help we will continue to help thousands of infants, children and teens this year. We thank the athletes, volunteers and sponsors who participated in the inaugural Stamford KIC IT Triathlon and who now are part of the Kids in Crisis family. Together, we are meeting the needs of today’s children and helping them have healthier, more productive tomorrows.

Stay tuned to the Kids in Crisis website for information on next year’s 2009 Stamford KIC It Triathlon!
