Eco-Runner/Walker "Only Your Feet Hit the Ground" Campaign
Running to Keep California Beautiful
Keep California Beautiful (KCB), an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, is a nonprofit environmental organization established in 1990. KCB’s mission is to promote individual, community and corporate responsibility for California’s environment. We pursue this mission by promoting source reduction, litter prevention, recycling, and beautification through volunteerism and by developing public/private partnerships at the state level as a way to provide necessary resources to local communities.

By taking the time to make sure your food packaging items and used fluid containers make it into the recycling or trash containers instead of on the course or trail when running you can a make a difference.

Another way to help is create your own personal fundraising page by clicking (become a fundraiser) at the top of the page. This will allow you to upload an image add a message and email family and friends to raise money for our programs. Money raised through our efforts at the event will support the KCB sponsored clean up and beautification events throughout California which occur year-round; but with a focused effort during the spring.

Incentives for Contributors and Fund Raisers:

The Walt Disney Company has donated a "Special Disney Day of Fun Package" for four, to support the Eco-Runner Project. Each contributor or fundraiser raising $500 or more for KCB will have their name entered in a drawing for the prize.

Additional Incentives for Fund Raisers:

Raise $250 by January 5, 2009 to receive an Official Atayne KCB Eco-Runner technical shirt (pre-ordered in your size) to wear in the race. If you reach that goal after January 5th but prior to when you check in at the Eco-Runner booth, you will still receive a shirt, but size availability might be limited.

Raise $250 and earn a "Run for a Reason" technical fabric T-shirt.

Raise $1000 and your entry fee will be refunded to you.

Raise $1500 and earn an official Carlsbad Marathon jacket.

Eco-Runner Sponsors:

A founding sponsor of the KCB Eco-Runner Project, Running Center, has donated 100 items including gift cards and Nike IPod Sport Kits, valued at $3,000 as Eco-Runner incentives.

Asics North America has donated bags, hats and other gear valued at $1,000

Atayne has joined the sponsorship program this year by donating shirts for our sponsored Eco-Challenge Champions, $500 in gift certificates and they also are providing us with a special code for online purchases: keepcabeautiful. They will track sales and donate 10% of all sales that use this code to Keep CA Beautiful. The code will be active until December 2009.
