WHY WE RIDE:
Eliminate a need for Donor Waiting Lists. There are over 105,000 Americans currently on the national organ transplant waiting list. Over 3,500 are listed at transplant centers right here in Florida. Any one of us could start a new day only to find that we have been diagnosed with an illness in which our only lifeline is an organ transplant. Every 13 minutes a new name is added to the waiting list and every 90 minutes someone dies for lack of a donor organ.
The Katie Ride for Life is a cycling/walking event in which novices to serious riders may participate to raise funds to provide organ donor education and increase donor commitment. It is a great opportunity to make a difference.
The Katie Ride for Life will raise funds to increase awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation and encourage Floridians to make a positive decision about donation. |
