The Kalingalinga Foundation
You must be the change you wish to see in the world
We at the Kalingalinga Foundation are working to improve the health and welfare of the Zambian people. At present, our efforts are focused on the Kalingalinga neighborhood of Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. The KF Food Program, which began in August 2007, distributes peanut butter sandwiches and milk to men, women and children receiving care at the Kalingalinga HIV Clinic. On our current schedule, we serve 60 patients, three times per week. These calorie-rich foods provide protein and fat that are essential for good health, especially for patients just beginning antiretroviral therapy. The KF School Program began in April 2008 as a way to address the needs of the students and staff at the Kalingalinga Basic School. The school lacks electricity and adequate toilet facilities. In addition, a shortage of desks forces many students to sit on the floor during their lessons. And, an absence of books prevents students from improving their reading skills and developing a love of reading. In response, we are purchasing locally-made desks and plan to create a library at the school. We promise that 100% of your donation will be used to purchase supplies, such as peanut butter and milk, desks and books. Not a single cent will be used to pay overhead costs, such as salaries or advertising. We are all volunteers and do not receive financial compensation of any kind. The Kalingalinga Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization registered in Alabama, USA.
