| The Autism Impact Corporation (AIC) was formed to raise funds and awareness in support of the greater autism community of central WI. With these funds we will purchase supplies and services for the Autism community that cannot be provided for by traditional government / educational programs due to overly stretched budgets. Today, 1 in 150 individuals is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined. It occurs in all racial, ethnic, and social groups and is four times more likely to affect boys than girls.
Last year, our organization supported two very
important efforts:
Project Lifesaver - This provided search and rescue capability to authorities for many on the spectrum from Marshfield to Wisconsin Rapids and throughout Wood County.
Therapy Services Grant - We provided a sizable grant to provide sensory therapies and therapy plans for kids with autism without access or who are unable to afford it.
This year we would also like to support the “ACT Playground” (All Children Together) project. This inclusive playground is designed to allow typically developing and disabled children to play together, side-by-side. Play is a critical socialization and
learning skill for kids, and we have seen its successes first hand in aiding children on the autism spectrum. |
