This year has been a busy one for our family. As many of you know, our son Mason had a serious cerebella brain tumor removed in October 2004 at Children’s Hospital of Orange County. This tumor removal was further complicated by hydrocephalus which required a second surgery 10 days later. We are thrilled to report that Mason has since recovered beautifully and he is enjoying life with no physical defects 20 months later.
Since this time we have become actively involved at Children’s Hospital of Orange County. We are so impressed with the services CHOC provided for our family and feel compelled to give back to the facility and dedicated staff that has helped thousands of children and families throughout the country.
Last November I joined the CHOC Foundation for Children Board of Directors to help make a difference for our community and our kids. As many of you are aware, I have been diligently training 15-20 hours a week for the Ironman Triathlon taking place on August 27th in Canada. This is a race that requires one to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and then complete 26.2 mile run. No small task, but I am committed to finishing. I am equally committed to supporting CHOC’s Neuroscience Institute that so greatly helped Mason. I am participating in this triathlon to reach not only a personal goal but a goal to raise $100,000 for the Neuroscience Institute to honor them for all they do for our family and countless other families. I am dedicating this race to our son Mason and hope that you will support me in reaching my fundraising goal.
