Exceeding Expectations
Using triathlon to re-direct the lives of at-risk kids
Exceeding Expectations is a program started by Cherie Gruenfeld that uses the sport of triathlon as a vehicle for re-directing the lives of at-risk kids in San Bernardino, Calif.

Every penny collected goes directly to the kids* for bikes, helmets, running shoes, race fees -- even food -- to get them through training and events.

A little extra incentive: We'll send a signed first edition of a Lee Gruenfeld or Troon McAllister novel to anyone contributing $100. For $200 or more, you'll get a first edition of Confessions of a Master Jewel Thief signed by both Lee Gruenfeld and Bill Mason, the subject of the book.

* How it's done: In order to maintain Cherie's firm policy of not wasting your generous donations on administrative costs, your gift will be collected by the Active Awareness Fund, a 501c3 Charitable Organization dedicated to raising funds for other charitable organizations with goals similar to its own. Active Awareness will then make disbursements to the San Bernardino School District, which handles adminstration for Exceeding Expectations. These services are provided at no cost to the program, so rest assured that every penny you contribute will go right to the kids.

The fundraising deadline is 2pm on June 25, 2005. After this time, online donations will no longer be accepted.
