HOSPICE is a specialized care program for terminally ill patients with an advanced end stage illness having a life expectancy of six months or less. Hospice works in tandem with primary care physicians, and enables patients to live every day of life to the fullest; focusing on comfort and the enhancement of the individual’s quality of life.
How is HOSPICE different?
• Our special kind of caring treats the person, not the disease. Hospice cares for the entire family as a unit. Patients and families are included in the decision-making process.
• HOSPICE offers palliative care (comfort care), rather than curative treatment.
• HOSPICE care includes pain and symptom control to enable the patient to live as fully and as comfortably as possible.
• HOSPICE services are coordinated through an interdisciplinary team which includes nurses, social workers, physicians, pastoral care, volunteers and related therapists.
How can you help?
Donate to HOSPICE. Community support ensures that HOSPICE will be available to all who are in need. Not all patients have insurance. Of those who do, their insurance may not reimburse HOSPICE for all services provides. HOSPICE receives no reimbursement for our bereavement services, which are free of charge.
