My name is Dan, and I am a sophomore majoring in Economics and Political Science at Johns Hopkins University. I chose to join the Hopkins4K team because, since the loss of my grandfather to leukemia when I was only 12, I have always tried to find a meaningful way to join the fight against cancer. My late grandfather, for whom I am dedicating my journey across America, taught me to love life and to explore my own curiosity at a very young age. Both my mother and grandmother are breast cancer survivors.
I hope biking across America, raising awareness and money for cancer research, will serve as a life-changing experience. I hope it will give me the opportunity to better understand my own personal drive, motivation, and spirit, and to honor all those who have lost loved ones to cancer. |
