| Every time i learn that someone I know has had cancer, I never look at them the same way. Learning someone’s story makes me think about them in a different light, and lets me see the strength that they must have to live with the ongoing fear of a relapse. I have personally heard many stories that touched me deeply, and made me seriously reconsider what it means to be a strong-willed person. It is these horror stories, not the statistics and warnings, which inspire me to be a positive contributor to the fight against cancer. Anyone can help raise money for cancer research. I am riding to San Francisco not just to say that I’ve ridden across the country, not just to raise money, but to spread the hope and strength that results from people sharing their personal cancer stories. I cannot wait to witness the power of sharing an experience, and what change can be brought by spreading awareness. |
