| Welcome to the page for the Texas National Guard Marathon team. Texas Military Forces runners working to support the Texas National Guard Family Support Foundation. The goal for the entire organization is to raise $25,000 for the Family Support Foundation which benefits the families of National Guard Soldiers.
Our Marathon Team is also running the Austin AT&T Marathon Feb 17 for this worthy cause.
We need your support! In addition to the Austin marathon, the Texas National Guard Marathon Team is running to represent our Texas Military Forces and Family Members by participating in the inaugural Texas Independence Relay on 1-2 March 2008. This historic race is composed of 40 relay legs of various lengths, totaling over 200 miles. The course starts in Gonzales, TX, where the Texas Revolution began, and it finishes at the San Jacinto Monument, where Texas Independence was won!
As members of the Texas National Guard we are especially proud to be a part of this historic occasion. Our team will run in remembrance of the sacrifices made by our forefathers long ago, for those serving today, and with a view to remain vigilant for those sacrifices to come in defense of liberty. We remember the valiant efforts of our fellow “Lone Star” Warriors who paved the road to Independence, and remain committed to the principles of protecting our freedoms.
Our Texas Military Forces continue to demonstrate the highest examples of selfless service as they deploy back-to-back to support the Global War on Terror. They deserve the honor and support due all those who serve. The Texas National Guard Family Support Foundation, a private 501(c) charity founded to support the families of TXMF Soldiers and Airmen, extends the opportunity to show your support through tax-deductible contributions to this noble cause. |
