Making Strides Towards The Cures
Dear Friends,
I am participating in a fund raiser this summer for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I will be joining their “Hike for Discovery” in September hiking into the Grand Canyon. I will be on a team, training every week rain, shine or fog between now and September to get ready for the hike.
This hike has a very personal and special meaning for me as my father has MDS, Myleodysplastic Syndrome, a precursor to Leukemia. He acquired it shortly after he went through a quintuple bi-pass surgery in 2004, as if that wasn’t enough! My hope is that the money we raise will soon find a cure for people afflicted with blood cancers (leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin’s disease). The money I raise will pay for support groups, educational programs and grants for research to find better treatments and a cure.
