Welcome to my Hike for Discovery home page.
Hike For Discovery is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's adventure fundraising program that prepares people to experience a natural wonder in a special way.
While I'm training, I'm raising funds to help the Society cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than 712,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. Your support of my participation in Hike For Discovery will help bring them hope and support.
Many of us have lost dear friends and family members to some type of cancer. Sadly, we all have loved ones in our lives that are currently fighting some type of blood cancer.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Hike for Discovery and help advance the Society's mission. I hope you'll visit my web site often, so that you can see how my training and fundraising efforts are going. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
Update:
2/16/08: Besides the training (working out and walking in the neighborhood) that I have been doing this past week, today I hiked for the first time with the group of individuals that are also 'Hiking for the Cure'. We only did 6 miles but it was in the mud! That has to count for something. It was great to meet some of the folks I will be hiking with in the next few weeks. I'm looking forward to our next group hike. KC
March 3: Hike # 2 with the group. This week was the 'friends and family" hike. I invited my daughter and her husband. She invited her friend and their labrador, Lucille. It was an absolutely beautiful day weatherwise and awesome because of the family and friends. We actually didn't hike with the group because we got there before they did and started hiking. We actually hiked a bit longer and a trail that was a bit more steep. All in all it was a great training trail. I'm looking forward to the next one. This time, I will hike with my group. KC
