Welcome to my Hike for Discovery home page.
Non-Hodgkin's follicular lymphoma is the most common cancer of the lymphatic (immune) system. It is not currently curable and the majority of people with this diagnosis will experience recurrences and/or transformation (a recurrence that is different/worse than the original occurence) for the remainder of their lives. Life expectancy post diagnosis averages 8-10 years. If you are thinking that sucks, I couldn't agree with you more.
I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's follicular lymphoma in 2005 and am currently in treatment. Please help me, and others, by supporting my participation in the Hike for Discovery. Together, we can step up to make a difference and contribute to a cure.
Hike For Discovery is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's adventure fundraising program that enables people to experience a natural wonder in a special way. The event will have 3 levels of hikes into/around the Grand Canyon. Since I will have just finished treatment for follicular lymphoma, my hike will be more of a meander around the rim!
While I'm in treatment, I'm raising funds to help the Society find a cure for Non-Hodgkin's follicular lymphoma. More than 56,000 Americans are diagnosed with
this disease each year. More than 19,000 of those diagnosed each year die. Your support of my participation in Hike For Discovery will help bring me, and them, hope and support.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Hike for Discovery and help advance the Society's mission.
Your donation is tax deductible!
I hope you'll visit my web site often, so that you can see how my fundraising efforts are going. Thanks for your support and prayers!
