| Me, Shane, and Kelli...pre-transplant 1988 & summer 2007. The gift of time...priceless! |
One of the many blessings in my life that I am so grateful for has been the gift of time...time to live, to laugh & to love!
In February of 1988 I was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukemia. With the help of my family, the oncology specialists at Johns Hopkins, and my donor-brother Rob, I received a bone marrow transplant and treatments that saved my life. It is now 20 years later and my cancer is still in remission. I wish that all blood cancer patients could have the same outcome as me. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
Today, more than 712,000 Americans are battling leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Although great strides in research and treatment have been made, there is still a lot to be done. That is why I have chosen to join the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's - Hike for Discovery fundraising program.
As I train for the big hike in Yosemite, I will be raising money to help the Society find a cure and to help patients and families that are impacted by these diseases. My pledge is to raise $6,000.00.
Please help me reach this goal by making a donation towards this tremendous cause!
The easy secure way to donate is by using the Make a Contribution link to the left. Or if you prefer, you may send a check made payable to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to me:
