Finding a cure out on the trail...
I am hiking the Grand Canyon this May to fundraise on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The LLS is one of the nation’s leading voluntary health organizations, providing millions of dollars in investment to leading researchers investigating treatments and cures for blood cancers, and in support of patients and their families.
Why am I hiking for the LLS?
• Leukemia is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 15.
• Every 9 minutes another child is diagnosed with a blood cancer.
• Blood cancers will strike an estimated 109,000 Americans each year and kill approximately 60,500.
Where does your money go?
$5 The cost of sending a newly diagnosed patient a packet which includes information about their specific disease and support.
$25 Covers a single prescription co-payment.
$50 The cost of a co-payment for a CT scan.
$75 Average cost of tissue typing to become a bone marrow donor.
$100 Helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
$250 Provides a Family Support Group for one year.
$500 Provides a leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma patient with financial aid to support medical treatment and to travel to medical appointments for one year.
