| Hiking in Great Smoky Mountains National Park |
Hiking has been a hobby of mine for a very long time. Getting involved with Hike For Discovery gives me the opportunity to help a great cause while doing something I really enjoy.
First and foremost, I'm raising funds to help the Society cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than 712,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. Your support of my participation in Hike For Discovery helps people like Jason Harrison, a fraternity brother of mine, who has battled non-Hodgkin Anaplastic Large T-Cell Lymphoma.
Currently, I am training for a June hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. I have challenged myself with the most extreme hike the park offers. A 16-mile round-trip hike that will take me to the summit of Long's Peak at an elevation of 14,259 ft above sea level. This is considered to be one of the most difficult non-technical peaks to summit in the U.S.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Hike for Discovery and help advance the Society's mission. All donations are 100% tax deductible. You can donate right here on this page or if you feel more comfortable sending a check, please make the check out to:

Journal:
2/23 - Training Hike up Stone Mountain, GA - This was a 6+ mile hike around the base of Stone Mountain. It was a great opportunity to meet my team members and get a good hike in as I begin to train.
2/24 - Our Honored Hero Party was held today at Andretti Speed Lab in Roswell. I had the opportunity to meet Kelly Taylor, our hike team's Honored Hero and others that were training for different events.
2/28 - WOW! This has been a great week for donations! Thank you for being so generous and helping the Society. I have been working hard all week to get in shape for this hike. At least 50 minutes of cardio each day and sometimes 2 hours. Thanks for all of the support!
3/3 - Training continued this weekend as the hiking team met at Chastain Park and discussed ways to get in shape for the hike in June. A representative from Fit For Trips explained several ways to increase strength, flexibility and endurance. Afterwards, Jen and I hiked the 6+ mile trail around Stone Mountain with some friends.
3/13 - OK, the past two weeks have been awesome with the donations coming in! It hasn't even been a month and I'm already at 50% of my goal. THANK YOU everyone! What's even better is that I've reached this point with just 25 donors! That's just nuts! I was confident I'd reach my goal but I had no idea that I'd be at 50% this fast. My training has continued and I've been working on legs and cardio a lot. I get a really good boxing workout in at least 3 times a week and let me tell you, it's an awesome workout! I'm looking forward to doing two training hikes this weekend, one at Blood Mountain and one at Amicalola Falls. Stay tuned!
4/15 - I've made the $3000 mark! Thank you so much for making my fundraising such a success! This past weekend my group and I completed a great hike up, over and around Blood Mountain. 7 miles and I was still ready for more.
5/1 - Training has been great! Last weekend we hiked Pine Mountain and it was a great workout. For me, 11 miles total. I'm ready for Colorado! This week I've put a lot of extra work into legs at the gym. No pain, No gain. I hope to see a lot of people out at my fundraiser at Marlow's Tavern in Kennesaw May 3rd!
6/2 - SMASHED THE $4500 mark! Thank You everyone for your support! I leave this week for Colorado and can't wait to arrive in Estes Park. The Rockies await and I'm ready for the challenge. This past weekend, my wife Jen and I hiked in and out of Tallulah Gorge in Northeast GA.
