Hike for Discovery is the Leukemia Society's adventure fundraiser that prepares hikers to raise funds to discover cures while they discover amazing hike spots at places like the Grand Canyon and the Smoky Mountains. I'm hiking in memory of my little sister Shari and my friend and Girl Scout co-leader Gail who were both victims of breast cancer. I am raising funds to honor and benefit the children whose young lives are ravaged by blood cancers as well as all patients, families, and survivors affected by these cancers.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Since its founding in 1949, the Society has invested more than $483 million in research specifically targeting these cancers--thanks to our donors and volunteers, like you! Last year, the Society raised $60.1 million dollars, making more than 812,000 contacts with patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals through services provided through Home Office as well as 66 local chapters in the United States and Canada.
Your donation helps advance the Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Our mission is carried out as the Society continues funding medical research, patient programs, community outreach, education programs and advocacy for legislation addressing patient issues. The need is critical: we expect 118,304 new diagnoses this year and more than 785,829 Americans currently fight for their lives until cures are discovered!
