Welcome to my Hike for Discovery home page.
Hike For Discovery is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's adventure fundraising program that prepares people to experience a natural wonder in a special way. I am going to the Grand Canyon! When I learned about the hike, I knew I had to make the commitment. I have never been there, and this is a great chance to not only visit, but to truly experience it.
While I'm training, I'm raising funds ($4,400) to help the Society cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than 712,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. Your support of my participation in Hike For Discovery will help bring them hope and support.
My motivation to participate in Hike For Discovery comes not only from my goal to lose weight and stay active (I have lost 70 pounds and would like to lose 25 more), but also from people I know who have fought or are fighting a blood disease.
Two of my Uncles have chronic lymphocytic leukemia. I hike in honor of them. Ron Mazeroski, a beloved mentor while I attended Muskingum College, lost his lymphoma battle. I hike in memory of him. Nadine Bentley is the mother of a good friend. She has spoken highly of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as she battles chronic lymphocitic leukemia. I hike in support of her.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Hike for Discovery and help advance the Society's mission. I hope you'll visit my web site often, so that you can see how my training and fundraising efforts are going. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.
