Welcome to my Hike for Discovery home page.
Hike for Discovery is The Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society's hiking and fundraising program for people who love to be in
the great outdoors and who want to help people battling cancer. My husband Alan and I have joined Hike for
Discovery and we will be hiking the Grand
Canyon on Monday, May 19, 2008.
While we're training for the hike, Alan and I will
be raising funds to help the Society, which is the world's largest voluntary
health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing
education and patient services. The Society's mission is to cure leukemia,
lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve
the quality of life of patients and their families. Click here if you would like
to find out more about the work of the Society.
Alan and I are trying to raise $5,000 each, or
$10,000 in total. I’m hoping that you
are able to make a donation to support my participation in Hike for Discovery
and help advance the Society's mission.
Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated! (Please note that Alan and I will cover all
our own travel costs so that 100% of your donation will go directly to the work
of the Society.)
If you would like to honor
or memorialize a friend or loved one who has had a blood related cancer,
e-mail their name to me at lmitterm@capital.edu,
and I will write their name on my hiking jersey.
I hope you'll visit my web site again, so that
you can see how my training and fundraising efforts are going. Thanks for your support!
