| My heroes-cancer survivors and victims. Help me help them and let's tell cancer to take a hike!! |
Welcome to my Hike for Discovery home page.
Hike For Discovery is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's adventure fundraising program that prepares people to experience a natural wonder in a special way.
While I'm training, I'm raising funds to help the Society cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than 712,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. Your support of my participation in Hike For Discovery will help bring them hope and support.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Hike for Discovery and help advance the Society's mission. I hope you'll visit my web site often, so that you can see how my training and fundraising efforts are going. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

So, we're a few weeks into the season. I did really well with the two trainings I have been to and we had a really cool equipment clinic where we learned about different stuff we may need on our hike. I'm getting an awesome pair of hiking boots, convertible pants and walking sticks. Lucky for me, in one of my past campaigns, I got this neat CamelBak and have gotten good use out of it.
I'm mentoring this season, too. I have LOTS of fundraisers planned. We have half a dozen car washes in the Seminole County area, CiCis Longwood is letting us bus tables for tips a couple of times, and the Daytona International Speedway has allowed us to volunteer for almost $3000 towards our cause. There are more events on the horizon that our other mentors are planning. So if you see the "Hike" or "Team In Training" logo, stop on in and see what we're up to.

I don't know where the season went. I noticed that I have not posted an update since March. I apologize for this. We had several very successful fundraisers and I guess I was so busy with them, I did not get around to keeping you updated.
I just returned from my hike yesterday and I cannot explain in words what I was a witness to in the last few days. The Grand Canyon was not only amazing to see, but to hike around, is another experience altogether. I also cannot forget to tell you, that your support allowed us to raise $1.2 million in this campaign alone. Thank you for all of your support. I will keep you posted on future campaigns I participate in.
