Dear Family and Friends of Lina Gomes,
It has been nearly 5 months since Lina was in an accident that almost took her life. She survived despite horrific injuries that have resulted in the loss of both her legs above the knee. In addition to losing both of her legs, she suffered from fractures in her pelvic bone, her neck, her back, and had a stroke that left her with limited movement in her right arm.
Although her recovery has been remarkable, it has not been an easy path to recovery. It is a daily struggle. Lina has had to learn, develop, maintain and restore movement and functional ability, which she has excelled in. She remains positive that her life will return to where it before this accident.
However, many barriers stand in the way. While it is possible for Lina to walk again, it will cost anywhere between $89,000 to $112,000 for her to receive artificial legs. In addition to the cost of the legs, Lina will need a car with adaptive equipment, pay thousands of dollars in hospital bills, and extensive accommodations to her home.
The goal is to raise money to help Lina live a long, prosperous and enjoyable life. She is a remarkable woman whom when people needs help she is the first one to stand and help. She is a wonderful mother, daughter, wife and sister. She works in the field of human services where she is constantly giving to those in need. She is depending on her friends and family to help raise money to help her walk again!
Any amount you can give is deeply appreciated. The donation you make today will be a contribution towards a non-profit foundation, Lina’s First Step Foundation. You will receive a tax break from making this contribution.
Love,
Cintia De Pina (Lina Gomes' daughter)
