|The pure joy of running is close to my heart, and running for others even closer. This year, I'll be putting one foot in front of the other for 100 miles on June 4th, fourteen laps around Donner Lake, to benefit an amazing local non-profit, Girls on the Run. This program inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. This spring, 48 Tahoe girls requested financial assistance. Please support me on this run to help low income girls participate in this life-changing program. I invite you to donate (any amount helps) for their future and our community's. Here is more on this great non-profit:
Girls on the Run is a positive youth development program that instills self-esteem in girls through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training. Utilizing a fun, experience-based curriculum, the program creatively integrates running to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident.
The objective of Girls on the Run is to educate and empower girls at an early age in order to prevent the display of at-risk activities in the future. At risk activities include substance/alcohol use, eating disorders, early onset of sexual activity, sedentary lifestyle, depression, suicide attempts and confrontations with the juvenile justice system.
