The Achievement Academy of Durham serves young adults who have dropped out of school teaching them what they need to know to pass the GED and get a NC Equivalency Diploma. AAD encourages our students to think beyond the GED and to go on to a post secondary program so they can support themselves. Our year-round daily classes provide the education and support necessary for high risk, initially low reading, hard-working students living in poverty to become sustainably employed. We turn lives around pairing formal education with building personal and leadership skills. AAD continues to work with our graduates when enrolled in post secondary programs, providing tutoring and connections to community services when needed to help sustain them while in school.

How you can Help

1. Join the AAD Team and walk/run The Great Human Race with us on March 24 – the race begins at Northgate Mall, here’s the course map

   • It is free to walk with AAD, and no need to register – more info for the community walk
   • Competitive Runners/Walkers can pre-register by 3/22 for reduced fee of $25, or register at 7AM day of race – more info for competitors

2. Fundraise for AAD by becoming a Team captain, set up your own fundraising page and ask friends, co-workers and family to sponsor you with a contribution. Contact Sandy at AAD for help setting up your page, or set your own up here

3. Support the AAD Team. If you cannot join us for the Great Human Race you can still support AAD by donating securely online through the Make a Contribution box below.
