| Fenimore Tiger arrived at Carolina Tiger Rescue matted and dirty, looking like a tattered teddy bear who had been left out in the rain. He and three other tigers came to us from a Missouri animal park with a troubled past that had been closed by authorities after an animal there attacked a volunteer.
After a short stay in our quarantine facility, Fenimore and the other Missouri tigers were introduced to their outdoor enclosures where they get lots of exercise, a healthy diet, and regular enrichment activities designed to stimulate natural behaviors. Does all of this make a difference in their lives? We think so, but the pictures above probably say more than we ever could.
Carolina Tiger Rescue is home to 15 tigers and over 60 other wildcats from around the world. Some were raised in a captive breeding program designed to preserve endangered species. Others, like Fenimore, were rescued from private owners or roadside zoos, or came to us after their former owners simply abandoned them.
Our mission is to provide a lifelong home for these beautiful animals, and every donation helps. Here are examples of what your gift can buy:
$10 - fruit for one day for the binturongs
$15 - one month medication for one cat
$20 - one box of syringes to help with medical care
$25 - an oil change for one of our service vehicles
$50 - straw for den boxes
$100 - one week of fuel for our service vehicles!
$1,000 - one day of care for all of our animals!
This year our volunteers, adoptive parents, and members are all working to help us reach our 2010 Great Human Race fundraising goal. You can make an online donation here on our main page, or donate on any of the following pages:
