Frances Chang, 22, died Nov 10 in San Luis Obispo where she was a senior at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Born April 20, 1986, she attended preschool at First Christian Church and elementary school at Alderwood Basics Plus.

At a young age, Frances began to show artistic and athletic talents. She won several awards for her paintings and was on Irvine all-star and travel teams for softball and soccer. At Lakeside Middle School she was the secretary of the ASB.

At Woodbridge High, she played on the varsity volleyball while consistently making it on the Principal's Honor Roll.

Frances was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at Cal Poly and held the position of VP Panhellenic the previous year.

Frances loved cooking, whether it was baking desserts or making meals from scratch, for family and friends. She also loved fashion and often designed many of the dresses she wore. She enjoyed spending time outdoors at the beach, surfing or playing beach volleyball, hiking, and playing tennis.

She had a special love for animals and adopted a three-legged chocolate lab, Macey, this past April from Woods Humane Society. Frances also fully devoted herself to various volunteer activities, including bringing lunches to the elderly, helping people with special needs pick strawberries at local farms and volunteering for the Special Olympics.

One of her proudest accomplishments was completing a 10k run at an elevation of 1,500 feet on Madonna Mtn. last March, with the proceeds benefitting San Luis Obispo County's Special Olympics.

Frances is survived by her parents, Kerry and Benjamin, sister, Kristie, grandmother, Shirley and pet, Macey.
