 Since 1988, the working poor of East and South Dallas have depended on the Central Dallas Food Pantry for support. Now the highest volume food pantry in Dallas County, the Resource Center had over 48,000 visits in 2006.
Thanks to local churches, schools, youth groups and companies, we provide nearly 20,000 pounds -- or nearly 10 tons -- of food EACH WEEK to people who might not otherwise afford it.
Staffed by over 100 volunteers per week, this program provides our neighbors with free food, low cost clothing and housewares. The Resource Center also provides referrals to other community services (i.e. job training, medical care, legal assistance, etc.).
Over 90% of our volunteers originally came to us to receive food. By partnering with our neighbors in need, we are building a genuine community in the inner city.
Our goal is to raise $94,640 through this Web site by the end of the year. This will cover 100% of our pantry's costs of food for 2007.
