The City of San Diego has been selected by the USTA to host the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final between USA and Italy, taking place on November 6-7. The Final will be played on an indoor hard court at San Diego Sports Arena, which has a capacity of nearly 9,000. This event will bring a world spotlight to our community. To make this event financially feasible, we have undertaken a fundraising drive to help offset the expenses associated with bringing this top flight professional women’s tennis event to town. We are sending this message to you in hopes that you will join the “Friends of the Tie” to help us raise the $200,000 needed to properly stage this event in San Diego. If you are willing to help us with a donation of any size, there is a link at the bottom of this page that will enable you to contribute to the event. Those who support this event will be recognized in the official program and will have the satisfaction of knowing that they helped make it all happen. Those who contribute at one of four defined levels will receive some or all of the special following benefits: (1) Reserved sponsor seating for the matches (2) VIP Parking Passes (3) Invitations to Player Dinner, Draw Ceremony and sponsor hospitality area. The special Tax Deductible giving levels that entitle "Friends" to benefits are: $2,500, $5,000, $10,000 and $20,000. Please note that the donations go to the San Diego Sports Commission, which is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization dedicated to bringing world-class sporting events to town. Whether you contribute or not, be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to watch professional women’s tennis up close and personal. The USTA is committed to winning the Fed Cup competition in 2010 and we hope you will be there to get our team off to a great start! Fed Cup is the premier team competition in women's tennis, launched in 1963 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the International Tennis Federation. The list of players who have competed in the Fed Cup is impressive to say the least. Many of the game’s all-time greats, along with the current crop of talents, have featured in the competition throughout its history.
